North Carolina RC&D Association Supports 2009 Canon Envirothon

The North Carolina RC&D Association's hosting of the NORTH CAROLINA NIGHT dinner and entertainment for the 2009 Canon Envirothon was a great success!

Held at the Haywood County Fairgrounds on August 5th, over 40 volunteers, including RC&D Council Members, RC&D Staff, SWCD Staff, SWCD Supervisors, NCDSWC Staff, and others planned, cooked, set-up, served, danced, and cleaned up.

We had over 17 sponsors of cash, food product, and services who helped make this event special for the over 600 students, advisors, volunteers, and cooperating agency staff. Attached are a few prictures taken that evening.

The group was welcomed by Congressmen Heath Shuler and entertained by Balsam Range (BR currently has number one bluegrass song in US) and local Cloggers.  The kids and the older kids had the largest square dance you ever saw. And if the buses hadn't begun to leave at 8 PM those kids and the cloggers would still be dancing.

Climate Change Committee Report

In 2007, North Carolina RC&D Association President Amy Hendricks appointed a Climate Change Committee to evaluate the potential of RC&D involvement in various climate change projects.  Click on the link below to read a copy of the Committee's final report which was presented at the 2008 annual meeting in Kitty Hawk, NC.
